Deck machinery is exposed to the harshest elements at sea—salt spray, extreme temperatures, and heavy loads. Corrosion and wear are inevitable. At Welcome Marine, we salvage high-value components from deck cranes and winches before the vessel is cut, preserving them for reuse.

We focus on the "hard iron" parts that are expensive or impossible to source new: large reduction gearboxes, slewing bearings for cranes, and hydraulic motors. We also stock complete winch units for barges and tugs.

What We Recover & Refurbish

• 1. Crane Slewing Bearings: The critical interface between the crane pedestal and the jib. We inspect used bearings for pitting and measure axial/radial play to ensure they are within safety limits.
• 2. Winch Gearboxes: We open up the gearboxes of anchor windlasses and mooring winches. Gears are cleaned and inspected for tooth damage. Bearings and seals are replaced.
• 3. Hydraulic Motors: High-torque low-speed motors (Hagglunds, Kawasaki) are tested on our hydraulic bench to ensure they can deliver the required torque.
• 4. Brake Bands & Linings: We reline brake bands with non-asbestos friction material, ensuring reliable holding power for anchors and mooring lines.
• 5. Sheaves & Rollers: Fairleads, rollers, and crane sheaves are sandblasted and painted. Bushings are checked and replaced if worn.
