Low-Hour GenSets from Premium Vessels

The auxiliary engine is the heartbeat of a vessel's electrical system. At Welcome Marine, we understand that reliability is paramount. We do not deal in "scrap" engines. Our procurement team specifically targets vessels with well-maintained machinery records, often sourcing engines with less than 20,000 running hours.

We stock both complete Generator Sets (Engine + Alternator on skid) and bare engines. Whether you need a Yanmar 6N18L for a tugboat or a Daihatsu 6DK-20 for a bulk carrier, we have the inventory and the technical expertise to deliver a plug-and-play solution.

Our Reconditioning & Testing Standards

  • 1. Crankshaft Inspection: We perform MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) on all journals to check for micro-cracks. Hardness and surface finish are verified to be within OEM limits.
  • 2. Cylinder Head Overhaul: All heads are pressure tested. Valves and seats are ground or replaced. Rotocaps are checked for proper rotation.
  • 3. Piston & Liner Calibration: Pistons are cleaned and ring grooves are measured. Liners are honed to restore the cross-hatch pattern for optimal lubrication.
  • 4. Fuel Injection System: Fuel pumps are calibrated on our test bench. Injectors are pressure tested for spray pattern and atomization.
  • 5. Alternator Care: The alternator is cleaned, varnished, and baked. Bearings are replaced. Megger tests and PI (Polarization Index) tests are conducted.
  • 6. Load Bank Testing: Upon request, we can arrange for a load bank test to demonstrate the engine's performance under 50%, 75%, and 100% load.

Yes. Before any engine leaves our yard, we take a fresh crankshaft deflection reading. We also provide the original readings from the vessel's logbook if available, so you can compare the history.
In many cases, yes. This involves changing the governor settings to reduce RPM (e.g., from 900 to 750, or 720 to 600) and potentially adjusting the AVR. However, the alternator must be compatible. We can advise on specific units.
